Kate Rawlings

Who is Kate?

Kate RawlingsDon't fear the Kate.  Her moniker "Killer" isn't quite as ominous as it sounds.  While it might aptly describe her training intensity and focus, the nickname was the result of a sort of misunderstanding.  Kate had placed her initials "KLR" on her water bottle and someone read it as an abbreviation for killer.  Misunderstanding or not, the name stuck and Kate has embraced it ever since.

Kate RawlingsKate's road to CrossFit is an interesting one.  Her athletic endeavors started with soccer and took her to Division 1 and international competition.  Athletics eventually took a backseat to work and an MBA program.  Like so many of us, Kate felt she just didn't have the time to exercise.

Fast forward a bit and Kate's sedentary lifestyle and not so great eating habits lead to her gaining weight.  She tried to resolve the issue by joining a gym, but it was to no avail.  It occurred to her that she had always thrived in a team environment so she got online and searched for group fitness opportunities in her area.  Fortune was shining upon her that day and a local CrossFit affiliate appeared in the search results. The rest, as they say, is history.

Indomitable Kate!

Kate's "Killer" moniker has really shown through as of late.  She is currently (as of 03/31/2011) recovering from a stress fracture of her L-5 vertebra.  Many individuals faced with a similar challenge would be overwhelmed and simply give up.  Not Kate!  Rehab is her job for now and she is powering her way back to health.  Her "Killer" attitude has allowed her to stay positive and focused even through this ordeal.
There is nothing like losing something to make you realize what you truly had, and Kate is no exception.  Her fire to get back to CrossFit competition threatens to consume her, and make no mistake; she will soon be back stronger and fitter than ever!
